In 2022, the European Commission launched a call for European University Alliances to explore and facilitate the issuance of a European Degree. The ED-AFFICHE consortium responded to the call and received support from the European Commission to pilot this ambitious initiative.
ED-AFFICHE consists of six European university alliances (Una Europa, 4EU+, CHARM-EU, EC2U, EU-CONEXUS, and Unite!), representing 51 higher education institutions from 22 different countries. It is supported by 19 national and regional ministries responsible for higher education, as well as 15 national agencies for accreditation and quality assurance.
In consultation with experts, the consortium will develop potential improvements to the criteria associated with the European Degree, as outlined by the European Commission, and co-develop recommendations on a possible assessment procedure, as well as the design and delivery of a future European degree.
