Erasmus+ Traineeship

With the Erasmus Traineeship program, you can undertake an internship abroad for a minimum of 2 months and a maximum of 12 months in a European or non-European company.

Erasmus+ allows for multiple mobility periods throughout each study cycle.

***THE ERASMUS+ TRAINEESHIP CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR 2025/26 IS CURRENTLY BEING DRAFTED. MORE INFORMATION WILL BE AVAILABLE STARTING FROM MID-MAY 2025***

The program is open to:

  • Students regularly enrolled in a degree program at the University of Pavia (Bachelor’s, Master’s, Single-Cycle Master’s, PhD, first- and second-level University Master’s, or Specialization School).
  • Recent graduates, provided they were selected before obtaining their degree.
  • Applicants who are not simultaneously receiving EU funding from other programs or actions financed by the European Commission, or scholarships from other international mobility programs of the University and/or equivalent programs (e.g., international mobility programs of Merit Colleges).
  • Students who have previously participated in Erasmus Study, Erasmus Traineeship, or Erasmus ICM but have not yet used the full mobility period allowed by Erasmus+ for their current cycle of study.

A total of 12 months of mobility is permitted for:

  • First-cycle (Bachelor’s degree),
  • Second-cycle (Master’s degree),
  • Third-cycle (PhD, first- or second-level Master’s*, specialization school).

For single-cycle degree programs, a total of 24 months of mobility is allowed.

*In the Italian academic system, there is a distinction between a Master’s Degree and a Master.

  • A Master’s Degree (Laurea Magistrale) refers to a second-cycle academic degree (EQF Level 7) that typically lasts two years and follows a Bachelor’s Degree (Laurea Triennale). It grants access to further academic paths such as PhD programs.

  • A Master (Master di I o II livello) is a postgraduate specialization program that can be either first-level (after a Bachelor’s Degree) or second-level (after a Master’s Degree). These programs focus on professional training and do not grant access to PhD studies.

This distinction is important when considering academic recognition and mobility opportunities.

Key features of the Erasmus+ Traineeship programme:

  • Undertake an internship or thesis research activity.
  • Ensure that the internship is relevant to your field of study and personal educational needs.
  • Not engage in study activities (e.g., attending courses or taking exams).
  • Receive academic recognition for the activity carried out (except for graduates, as recognition is not possible after graduation).
  • Benefit from a financial contribution, which varies depending on the host country, along with an additional grant based on the ISEE financial indicator.

Erasmus+ Traineeship allows mobility to:

  • European and non-European countries (more details and limitations are outlined in the Call for Applications).
  • Any public or private organization operating in the labor market or in sectors such as education, training, research, and youth.
  • Non-profit organizations.
  • Higher Education Institutions, etc.
